I love to take photographs, write and make life colorful in different ways, and it makes me feel good to release my creative energy in these ways. How do you express yourself?

After having a family, we truly realize how important these aspects of ourselves are... because we initially have less time to dedicate to doing them.

I feel it is very important to continue making time for personal expression through creativity especially after having a family because we suddenly become such different people and feel like we have lost ourselves momentarily.

My husband is an amazing photographer. Personally, I adore painting and drawing for our family and friends. I also enjoy writing poetry and blogging all of our activities.

Now, we make these activities family activities so that everyone can be involved. Our children attend drama classes, which they absolutely ♥.

It's important to us because it is an extention of ourselves and how we share precious time together. Thank you.

being creative makes the world less bland that it might be. If Picasso was not creative, where would we be?

If The painters who made the Mona Lisa, the scream, and the painting atop the Sistine chapel where not creative, the flair of being an artist would not exist. The true soul of these people is reflected from their true being. Shakespeare, Picasso, Bach, Mozart, and Homer are just some of the shining souls that have made their own souls shine as a bright example of the world's great diversity and creativeness. Without their creativeness, or any at all, this would be a world I would not want to be a part of.

I enjoy playing the trombone. I also like to cook souffles, omelets, cakes, and pies.Being creative is what I was born to do. It is the primary goal of my existence to bring more artistry into the world to make it more diverse.

I write a lot. I've published stories in the newspaper when I was in middle school and high school, but I'm not sure it's very important to me whether other people read what I write. Just writing and being myself is my favorite part. The stories I write are mostly based on my life - the feelings I go through - even the most personal times. It makes me feel good to write it down, and "get it off my chest" as people say. And people understand me more when I write. I can get my point across a lot quicker and clearer. I was never a big fan of Math and all that complicated stuff. Writing is peaceful and relaxing - and it's like you're making a whole new world, not only where your charectars live, but a place you put together and you make possible, even if it's only a story. I love Writing!

My life goals are centered around creative thought and expression. My main outlet for creative energy is writing and graphic design, but I also creative music on my computer. Games like the Sims 2 and Sim Coaster are great because I like to lay out house and park designs, decide the best routes for traffic to move and where to put all the fun and necessary items. I don't know why, but playing games like these always produces creative sparks and get my brain thinking about things I want to write or design.

Creativity is essential to me, more important than anything else: I won't become an author a screen writer without it.

I love taking photographs too but I also write and draw/paint. I think being creative is very important to me. It helps me express what I'm feeling because I don't always say how I feel. It's better to get it out in some form than to keep it all bottled in.

Creative = my life!

Since I was born until right now, my world is full with creativity! When I was in the womb, my mom liked to give me some classical musics. And at the age of 4, I studied violin until now (i'm 13). I like to write novels and article, that's why I joined jurnalisme class.

For my bro's wedding next year, I'm the one who designed the dresses for the singers! Great, huh?

I also have won some drawing competitions. In my school, I join an organisation and I'm on creativity section.

I'm creative. And my IQ test proves it (19 from 20).

I always look something from different sides. I try to be different in a positive way.

I've always been the girl doing something artsy in the back of the classroom. I draw, paint, create my own cross stitch, knitting and crochet patterns... I wouldn't know what life would be like if I couldn't be creative.

I think if the schools emphasized creativity more and conformity less, they might reach a few more students than they do right now. Some kids need to release that energy, not bury it inside. Art is the perfect way to keep a child's attention.

My husband and I both have undergraduate degree in Art. I am also a musician. We now have a daughter and she is really interested in music and making really amazing deliberate sounds for a one year old! Being creative is being ourselves, so it is the most important thing to us. I don't even think of creativity as something separate and apart from my personality. It's just in there. I worked in City Hall and at a local University and my jobs, while not artistic, required that I be creative in how I handled situations and people. I studied for my Masters in Business but would give up that knowledge in a second to keep my creative side if I was put to a choice. I believe that people who lack creativity are very limited in life.

I don't think I could live a happy life if I wasn't allowed to be creative. One of my favorite things to do is to go to a park, cafe, or other public place and just watch people. I watch their interactions with each other and observe the way they dress and act. By these hints I make up stories about them and write them in a notebook. Other times I've been listening to someone giving a lecture and if it's not very interesting, then I just listen for random word they may say and write those down. Then I try to make a poem or story incorporating those words.

I also love playing with my new digital camera and all the features in photo software on my computer with special effects and clipart.

Well well.... ^_^

Personally, blah blah blah: I play classical piano, clarinet, some guitar, and sing Broadway/opera/classical/etc. I write poetry and enter it in competitions. I write some of my own piano&voice compositions. I try my hand at fiction, but mostly end up with poetic prose. I, too, love photographs, and even try drawing/sketching/painting, althought I admit I'm none too amazing at that.

// What I'm getting at, though, is that creating is my life. I don't know where I would be without my hundreds of pages of diary entries, nor other means of self expression. And I'm inclined to believe that many of us feel that exact way.

So I'll leave you with a quote from Pearl S. Buck which, to me, sums up the inner *need* to create:

"The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: a human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive. To him, a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create - so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something of meaning, his very breath is cut off from him. He must create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency he is not really alive unless he is creating."

Being creative IS me. If I could not be creative, I would surely explode! I am a published poet, I am currently working on making a dress for my little sis(which I meant to finish before now but haven't had the chance :( ) and I was an active member of theatre groups for 13 years from the age of 10.

I express myself through poetry usually. Sometimes through painting, drawing, story-telling/writing. Also musically, but I do that more through my children. They both have drum kits! I actively encourage role play with them.

So I could not possibly live without creativity. I don't think my kids would like it either!

I love to cook! beautifully presented dishes satisfy not only the stomach, but the eyes and nose as well. cooking allows anyone to feel creative - you don't have to know how to draw/paint/sculpt/write to make a good meal. anyone that can read can follow a recipe and "create" a masterpiece! even kids can join in, and their innate power of creativity without boundaries shines through. I find cooking to be an excellent stress reliever, too - after a hard days work, it is strangely comforting to chop veggies into tiny little pieces. and the good feelings i get when i serve my creations to family and friends - what a way to release creative energy and provide something of substance! bon appetit!

It's so important! Even if you're not extremely talented in the creative department there are many ways to do it. Expressing yourself is defining yourself in the best way possible that is perfect for you. It's escaping reality and turning into something else. How else do ideas and inventions come to life? By creativity and doing!

So What

so what if i want to die and never even see the sky.

so what if i want to live and always take but never give.

so what, what are you gonna do about it, what does anyone care, so what so what.

so what if i have a heart of ice, so what if my love has a price.

so what if i have a heart of gold, so what if i kissed and never told.

so what, what are you gonna do about it, what does anyone care, so what, so what.

so what if my life's a mess, so what if this is just a test.

so what if there is no love in my life, so what if i slit my wrists with knives.

so what, what are you gonna do about it, what does anyone care, so what so what.

so what if it's saddness i send, so what if this is the end.

That's a poem i wrote.

I'm a professional animator, without creativity I would feel pretty empty.

Creativity can also come out in people through other avenues though. Restoring houses or Solving problems are just two, it's not always the artists that are creatives alone.

I think of creativity as constructive personalities, rather than destructive personalities.

Destructive personalities do burnouts in their cars on Friday nights or belittle and begrudge others.

I express my creativity in a number of ways. I love to decorate. You can decorate just about anything and it's my way of putting a little personal spin on things. My most creative outlet would be scrapbooking. I just sort of put them together how they are most appealing to me. It never struck me as being a "creative" outlet until I showed others and they were very impressed by my abilities. When I go on vacation, I keep everything...airline ticket stubs, brochures from places I go or places we stop to eat. It makes my scrapbook about more than just pictures, it captures an experience. I guess you would say, I save things that other people don't think to. I experiment with different techniques and learn to incorporate them into my albums. I don't think much about it while I'm doing it so I never really considered it a creative outlet until I heard everyone's responses to it. When I was younger, I would rearrange my room a lot and was constantly be changing my environment to suit my mood.

I believe that being creative is essential to life especially if you are married and have children and a career such as I do! I am a nurse and have three kids, I live with my BF in a committed relationship and I am creative every day. I have to think of ways to make dinner every day and entertain the kids so they wont be bored and start getting into stuff! Well the creativity with my BF will just have to remain in you imagination! ( I dont kiss and tell!) I have to think critically at work, but some times I like to think its creative as well!

It's very important. Sometimes I did exactly like what you mentioned. It brings spirit into or lifts up the spirit in your life. Not very people do this. I'm sure anyone is creative inmany ways. It's just that some of us especially me didn't know what talent I have until and after high school. Don't you agree that it only take pratices to built up certain talents we have. most people just totally denied or even lied to themselves that they have no talents. I really think that's bull. It does not matter what it is. Some people have talent in selling, speaking, leadership, musical, acting, or anything at all.

Very important, I am a writer and have been fortunate to have good drawing and painting skills too.

The writing is reporting on products, brands and similar events, and since the space is crowded, I have to be creative to make my articles interesting, accurate useful and enjoyable.

My other hobby, -portfolio management also calls for creativity, There are a number of investment options, and a number of different profiles. There are no set rules, except certain guidelines and common sense that has to be used to give the best returns to my customers. I have been successful, fortunately so far.

My previous business also called for creativity-I designed engineering products, projects, complete plants, as well as individual equipment, and this called for a lot of innovation to give the best and cheapest option/s to my customers.

It is satisfying to see a project desigend well taking shape and giving good returns, satisfying to see a story admired by the readers, by my peers, and also the thanks that I get from my customers when their investments have given more than they expected.

Hence creativity is very important to me.

I am not creative in the sense that you mean, to me being creative is when I am able to fix something that is broken that I did not know how to fix when I started. I am not an artist or claim to understand some peoples creativity, and maybe that is not a good thing. However, you sound like your having a great time at it so good luck to you and I wish you the best.

Creativity pays my bills. I am an interior designer and I cannot think of anything else I would rather be doing. Not only do I get a chance to be creative every day in my job, but I also get to help people develop their own sense of style and creativity. I believe in working with my clients to identify their own unique style and then show them how they can make their home a truly unique and comforting place. Every client is different, so every job gives me the opportunity to flex new and different creative muscles. I am truly fortunate to have a career that fulfills my creative urges and fills me with so much happiness.

I've been singing as a creative outlet since I was small. I wasn't terribly serious about it until high school, when I joined the choir and was president my senior year. In college, I took voice lessons and sang in ensembles. I wanted to get a voice minor, but it's a huge number of credits and there was no time alongside my engineering degree.

Now I'm working full-time and I'm soon to be going to school at night to get a law degree, and as a result I'm not singing much. I think I'm going to find a community choir to join, though, because it's such a stress reliever for me. So ... Long story short, it's VERY important!

I write (not very well)

but i build up my chapters in the best way i can

A "finished" work is a challenge to me ;

Then on to the next !!!

creativity can be, just baking a cake, enjoyed by your family

or fixing a broken hoe

or making a baby happy and comfortable

painting a picture

or fixing your hair in a special way

well, the list is endless

Use your talents , you may not know how well,

you can create something, if you do not try !!!

I express myself in so many different ways. Maybe I'll paint or sketch whatever I see or whatever comes to mind. Or I'll write short stories, poetry, or try making song lyrics. I will even photograph anything that catches my eye and then write a story for the picture.

These activities are what I enjoy most and what help me stay focused and relaxed through tough times. ^^ And once I finish something, I love sharing it with everyone!

Since I was young, I have thought that creativity was the mother of invention more than necessity. Mostly because if I didn't have something, I would think of a way to make it; jewelry, clothes, gifts for people when money was tight, etc.

I read a book and learned lamp-working, because I love glass, I learned sewing from my mother because I wanted pantaloons...paper-making and collage because I enjoy the finished products. I work in a multitude of media and love it!

I NEED to be creative, like you, it makes me feel good to beautify life. It has also made me some pretty good money!

It is extremely important to me as I am taking a vocational A-level in Art and am also doing an A-level in Product Design. Creativity allows me to express my ideas and i get a lot of satisfaction of creating something that i get good marks for. For example i got 100% in my GCSE art and was top in the country, therefore that freedom to be creative paid off.

I love photography, painting, computer manipulation etc.

Being creative will be really important to me in my future as i plan on being a graphic designer very soon!!!!!!

I try and make things interesting.

I take alot of pride in everything I do.

When having a party, I want everyone to love it, and talk about how fun it was and how good the food was.

Create fun projects with our daughter, now she's also creative. (scrapbook, makes cards, etc) She even loves to decorate her school locker, have clothes, or stuff others probably don't, by looking at offbeat places.

Garden, attract birds to yard, paint the rooms in our house by sponging or feather painting instead of the same old solid color.

I try and add an extra smile everyday as well.

Being creative gives me a sense of self worth. I teach, but no matter how important my job is, it does not satisfy the hunger in me to create. My creative outlets are: calligraphy, photography, self-taught guitar and piano, scrapbooking, painting the rooms in our house (stylized stencilling), journaling as I read my Bible, gardening - flowers and vegetables, sewing, dollmaking (sculpted cloth and sculpted paper mache'), and homemaking (even something as mundane as setting the table can become a piece of art if done well!). I apply as much creativity as possible to my job. That helps me get through each day. Some day I hope to switch careers and sell my art. I'd rather be a happy starving artist than die serving others without my heart being into it, ya know?

Performance art. I think everyone who doesn't have a creative outlet is making themselves sick! There are so many ways to be creative though it's hard to see how anyone could avoid it. People can do their daily work creatively, even if they work in a shop or factory. It's the approach you take to the work that counts in my opinion. (there will always be the slackers, who do the least and slope off early, they're just diminishing themselves.) People who take pride in doing a good job are usually happy with themselves. I like to do a good job wherever I can, but acting is my passion.

Creativity is an overblown "talent" to me. So many people can "be creative" that they all look alike. It's really great, to me, when you can see people working together for a common goal that's so beautiful, like the bicycle racers in the world class bicycle race going on now in Europe, the Tour de France. Watch those men work together and you see synchronization at it's finest. See them become "creative" on their way to win the race, and they lose, consistently. Togetherness over creativity any day for me. God Bless you.

It runs in my veins and is as important to me as my life's blood. I am not satisfied, EVER with banality, neither from others nor from my own expression. Even everyday conversation can be brightened and made to ring with the creative appication of language.

It holds equally true, of course in the musical and visual arts. Any guide book on photography will state that snapshots need not be merely a record of what was there. Each can be made a composition of events, participants and situation, told with sensetivity, recorded in reflected light.

Even the answers posted on this forum can be made to say much more than, "Yes, creativity is important to me."

Being creative has been the most IMPORTANT part of my life.. It has enabled me to interpret people and the world. To have understanding, relate to others, overcome fears, excel in employment, to truly not look at things as they are, but as they can or could be.

Commonly people think of creativity, as being the artist, performer, poet, writer, musician, actor/actress, comedian, and yes all creative people.

I look at other fields of brilliantly creative minds also. The doctor, attorney, scientist, accountant, philosopher, business person, teacher, and the marvelous creativity from the mind of a child. The list is too numerous to even write.

Think of the attorney who has to explain sometimes complex issues of law to the average citizen on a jury. Creativity!

The scientist who might have to explain a theory to people other than, other scientists who are educated and knowledgeable in the field. Creativity to have the theory, and to make it understood.

So, to give you my personal gift of creativity, it is... Communication, in the written word or spoken .

I paint with oils, some abstract, altho mostly realist paintings, or a mix there of. It is my life, I get a satisfaction out of this more than I can describe.. I won't mention my age now, but I started when I was 9 or 10 and have kept at it for many decades. The majority of time is thinking of a painting, painting it or viewing after it is finished, everything else in life is just a filler and boring, and thank you for presenting this question here, the most interesting one yet...

I think creative expression of any kind is one of the most important things people can do for the world and for themselves. For example, farm work of two hundred years ago was very satisfying and involved lots of creativity. Although it was sometimes back breaking work. People need to be and are happiest when they are creative.

I used to draw. Took art classes for 10 years. The school I went to had totally the wrong view on what an artist should be. They wanted structure, and were very critical. I always thought that art came from the heart, and how do you grade that? I express myself through my home now. I am constantly changing arrangements, making flowers vases up, or building something to make it look a little nicer.

Creativity is important to me b/c I love what I can 'think' about starting from nothing. I am in finance and spent most of my career problem-solving by being innovative. Financial reporting is a very structured discipline but you would be surprised how 'creative' you can be in solving a problem, improving a process, or creating a report.

It is so important that I won't let in any outside influence or allow any learning of proper technique to interfere with my creativity. My style is my own, and not like others. I make what I see in the visions in my mind. I don't just create a work of art until it looks ok; I make exactly what I see!

Jacinda: congratulations! You've asked a thoughtful, intelligent, creative question, and the answers you've received are brilliant.

I write, dance, sew, knit, crochet and do as many spontaneous creative things as possible. It's very important to me at this stage in my life, although I admit, it wasn't in others. Everyone needs a way to channel creative energy. If you don't, you die inside.

Creativity is the be all and end all.... My son wouldnt have me dancing round the room like a loon or making up crazy stories to make him laugh. I make clothes as a hobby and have tought myself...certainly wouldnt be able to do this without a bit of creativity in me! And the world would be a pretty grim place all round if others didnt have it too!

I have a very, very creative family, in fact every other member of my entire family excels at something creative. Painting, writing, cooking, sewing, music, you name it, they can do it and do it well. I can't and I don't, but I have great patience when teaching. I am a good listener and I love to help people. These are my ways of expressing myself.
2006-07-12 10:41:17 UTC
I express myself through writing. There are times when something is bothering me that I can not sleep until I write a poem or even a letter just to get it out of my system. Then I feel alot better and can rest. I think releasing this kind of energy and stress is very healthy. I bet you are a very stressless :) and healthy person, huh? :)

Creativity is important and effects every aspect of my life. As a teacher I believe that it is important to be creative. I constatly have to find new and fun ways to get students to pay attention to lessons and such. As you have said photography is a really great way to express yourself.

I think creativity is the best way for a person to bring themself out of depression or any slumbering mood. I believe that is a part of a person's soul and their individuality. I crochet and there isn't anything I can't crochet. I have given them away as gifts and have even sold some per request.

Creativity is the expression of ones self. I have a very bad heart, and I know that without my creativity I would have gone insane. Instead I paint, and create, that way I don't have to acknowledge that death is stalking me.

I also paint, and draw, and cook (cooking can be very creative!), do graphic design, and more. Lucky for me I also derive an income from my creativity, so it makes it easier to justify it to some people. I'm living the creative life!

Being creative has been a necessity in my early marriage. It all started with windows that needed covering. When I think back I cringe. It continued with needlepoint adventures from a magazine advertisement, that was the catapult.

Crafting love, simple design just to keep busy.

In my simple existence these array of crafts keep my mind centered.

It is crucial for me. Because

1-I feel creativity is a result of new exposures/experiences, and the application of those experiences to new environments, which basically breaks the patterns of normal thoughts the brain experiences and brings in creativity.

2-Thus, whenever I feel I am creative, I know that I have balanced out my life with a sufficient dose of personal life, I have enough sleep, and I am usually happy.

I express myself with writing, speaking, and interacting with the people I'm around. I also use creativity on my job. When people are scared(regardless of illness), I try to make them feel comfortable by either telling them one of my great-grandmother's funny stories, or tell them to think of something that they enjoy doing. Creativity gives you an edge over those analytical people anyway(nothing wrong with being analytical, just lighten up every now and again!). Keep being you, darlin', and embrace your muse!

Those of us who are artistic and creative thrive when we use our energies. It is so much part of us that we feel empty without being creative When our creativity is blocked so is our spirit.

I need to have several projects going to feel complete. It is essential as breath and sleep.

VERY, I express myself by decorating my office, handing out colorful creative flyers to my clients to motivate them as well, and by shopping at thrift stores and working with what I find to create fun decor.

example: I added gold and pearl buttons to the frame of a plain gold mirror. The whole thing only cost me 5 bucks.

My creative ways are God's gift to me since I was age 4(self taught)...I am 57 now..I am an artist...as were /are the rest of my family.Whether the gift is music or a painter etc...God blest us with these very special gifts. In return I feel it is wonderful and an absolute honor to share what HE has "given" me, with the world.

I love to draw..but I love to use acrylics too...I am one for details..

also I do scrap books..I create my own things for it. I am Native American and enjoy making beads the old way. Isn't God wonderful?

being creative is very important to me. I am a cosmetologist and I write poetry. The hairstyling aspect helps me with the art side of me, and the poetry helps with the emotional side of me. creativity is an essential part of our being. We were CREATED to BE creative. We feel ALIVE when we are creative - it does not matter in what: painting, dancing, writing, cooking, raising our children, being a house-wife, an executive, a clerk....

There are those however who put creativity to sleep.

Everyone has one (or more) skilled creative outlets; the trick is finding them. Upon your discovery of your creative skills, focusing on them really does help you live happier.

The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it. Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.

i also love to crochet, my wife taught me many years ago. baby blankets are a favorite, because they make the people recieving them feel special.

i'm also into gardening. we moved into a new house this year and i'm trying to decide what perennials i want to plant.

i used to draw and have been missing it lately, probably time to start again. i'm saving the watercolor painting to be something i learn after i retire.

its very important to me. its how i break out of the ordinary, break away from my everyday life. i paint/draw anything i see. i also take a camera everywhere i go, so i can take pictures and draw them later if i don't have time to do them on the spot. i love taking pictures of things. creating something from scratch gives me a feeling of acomplishment. my art is my muse. when inspiration strikes, which can be at any time, you have to hold on to it, and follow it where ever it takes you. you can just shove it back into the far reaches of your mind and forget about it. i can just make art on any day at any time. i have to feel inspired by what i see or read. making art is puting a little bit of your self into what you are doing, and just run with it. art is pasion above all else, whether its painting, or writing or singing, or taking pictures, whatever your doing you have to take time off of life and just make something that you will love. my art keeps me sane, or does it drive me insane? on question i don't know the answer to. one of the many mysteries life has provided us with.

"You can colour my world with sunshine everyday" an old song but it fits. I am an artist and colour is my food, there is too much black, white and sepia in the world today, we need lots of colour to pick ourselves up and start all over again!
