Question:
The future......50 and 100 years time....?

What position do we think the world will be in in 50 or 100 years time from today?

For example in 1950s:
Decolonization was in motion
It was the first full decade of the cold war
The European Economic Community was formed (later to become the European Union)
Communism came to the American continent in the form of revolution in Cuba
Television was expanding to become the mainstream of home entertainment
Organ transplants were born
The first satellite was launched

In the 1900s:
Mass production of the car
Wright brothers flight
Last cavalry charge in modern warfare (Boer War)
New Imperialism
Death of Queen Victoria

Keeping in mind we have gone from age of Empires in the 1900s to age of democracy in 100 years, with all the technological, political, economic, social and militaristic advances we have seen through two World Wars and countless regime changing smaller wars, will we see much of the same in the next 100 years, or will there be new empires born (ascent of China, re-emergence of Russia, new powers [India, South America, Africa?]). Obviously new technologies will be born, perhaps we will see cures to AIDS and Cancer.......

Any thoughts? Any indications of how things will go....?

Very well said. So much has been done over the last 100 years! I wish I could be around in the next 50 to 100 years!! I have always loved the future, and would love to see the outcome! Hopefully they will find cures for cancer etc., as they are nearly there now. But sadly the big companies hold out to see how much money they will make from the drugs etc. Sadly, this is one of the failures of our modern times, where as in the early times it was an honor to have invented something. People lived for the glory and recognition, not so much the money. But there is still a lot of things that will be invented and cures will be found, as man is always craving for the unknown. If you are a young person, I am envious of you, as you will see a lot of new wonderful things. Unfortunatley I also think there will be a lot of senseless wars. But again this is human nature. Thanks for bringing up a decent subject, and a good question. Good luck to you in the future!

I think we will continue to make advances in the sciences and being human, will fight our wars until we either blow ourselves to oblivion or nature takes over as it probably did millenniums ago when all the advances we made then were destroyed by an enormous natural catastrophe.

The link between human and computer will be blurred, computers will be implanted at birth, the system will make coins and paper money and obsolete, as well as keys and ID cards.

Most functions currently available on smart phones and PC's will be available on humans implanted computers.

In that time- population control will be the HUGE problem. Hopefully, mind-controlled space travel will be possible.....for humanity's sake
